It was during a dinner at Alexandre’s home, one of his oldest friends, that I met Liza Kerob and I was immediately fascinated by her story. her life is a novel. An extraordinary life ! A lover of her passion and especially of her violin. She says it is her best friend. She knows it by heart.
Originally from Tours, it was at the age of 5 that everything began, when she saw her sister playing cello. She ask her mum to play the same and the mum replied that she was too small. Then Liza retorted “we take a smaller one” and the little one of the cello was the violin, the discovery of her life. She dedicates all her youth and adolescence to her passion. A hard work, keeping her away from all the frivolites of a young girl of her age.
The excellence of her education
At 16, she left Tours for Paris where she successfully entered the Conservatoire. Between studies and music, her day was full. A first life experience alone. So young and already so organized !
At 18, she joined the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, internationally renowned and tained young musicians of great talent. For the first time, she blossomed both at the musical level with a renowned teacher, Aaron Rosand, and on a personal because she meets people of all nationalities with a good open mindness.
With her bachelor’s degree, she is admitted to the famous Juilliard School in New York. She discovers the Metropolitan Opera, the Carneggie Hall, Times Square, of course the New-York Philharmonic and everything else that made us vibrate in New-York with an incredible energy !
Return to France
2 years later, with her Master in ther pocket, she leaves with regret the United States and goes back in Paris. Very hard after the exciting New-York! Her flat is then facing the Trois Mailletz, a very popular cabaret in the Quartier Latin, and very quickly, the owner hires her to come and play violin every night when she is available. It is there that she will learn the art of improvisation, surrouned by jazz musicians and tunes of world music.Between Irish music, celtic, French Variety, jazz, her musical universe grows and she takes pleasure in detaching herself from the musical score.
It is a little love story that will lead her on the way to Monaco. In 2000, she took a competion at the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and was offered the most prestigious place in the orchestra, the position of Supersolist. Supersolist at 26 years old, and at the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic !!!!
The Trio Goldberg
Liza never stops ! She has created in parallele with the Orchestra, a band of chamber music, the Trio Goldberg, which brings together our Supersolist, the 1st alto solo and 1st cello solo. A success, already a CD and a second in preparation ! To know more about the Trio Goldbeg and its concerts program, it’s on HERE www.triogoldberg.com
Liza around the world
Thanks to her violin, Liza travels around the world. She just came back from a week on the Danube where she gave several concerts a day, solo and with the trio Goldberg. She will soon be going to Korea with the Chanteurs d’Oiseaux, in London in November, in Toulouse, in Geneva and so many others ! It gives me the spin ! She enjoys challenging, enjoying herself and sharing her passion with as many people as possible. Her projects ? All of them ! She does not know how to refuse musical pleasure.
An extraordinary woman
Her personality is as rich as her life ! More than dynamic, Liza is the energy that never stops. She is super organized and that only with paper ! A boosted who has the head eveywhere ! her secret ? Her devouring passion for music, and her children to whom she devotes a good part of her time ! She is also a great mom !
Bravo !
